LGBTQ+ affirming counselling and psychotherapy in Singapore

Hi, I’m Peter Hu (he/him).

I’m a psychotherapist and member of the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). I offer LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy in a space where you can speak openly and explore what matters to you.

I work with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, identity, work pressures, and relationship concerns. Therapy with me is rooted in genuine care and an approach shaped around your needs.

My practice is guided by the Queer-Affirming Therapy Code of Practice.

Who I work with

Many of the people I work with are gay or queer men, including trans men, who move through workplaces, families, or faith communities where straight and cisgender are assumed to be the norm. You might be successful on paper yet still carry loneliness, shame, or a sense of not quite fitting anywhere.

I also work with professionals and executives who are used to “holding it together” for everyone else. On the outside, you’re capable and composed. On the inside, you may feel exhausted by the pressure to perform, second-guess your decisions, or struggle to speak up in environments where heterosexual and cisgender identities are treated as the norm and you already feel in the minority.

In your relationship, you might be in a committed partnership that looks stable, yet conversations about sex, boundaries, money, or the future keep stalling. Small misunderstandings snowball into distance or arguments. Everyone involved may care, while old patterns and unspoken fears get in the way of a closer, more honest connection.

Room to speak honestly

And perhaps, like many men, you’ve had moments where you wanted to open up but stopped yourself: You think, “If I say this, it won’t be taken well… what’s the point? Nothing’s going to change anyway.” So you swallow it, make a joke, pour a drink, stay out late, dive into work, or numb out with porn or social media. It works for a while—until it doesn’t.

Therapy with me is an invitation to do something different: to slow down, make sense of what’s really going on inside, and relate to yourself with more honesty and compassion. Together, we can untangle what’s keeping you stuck, so that your life, work, sexuality, and relationships feel more congruent with who you are becoming.

If this resonates with you, I’d be honoured to meet you. You can begin with a free 15-minute enquiry call to ask questions and consider whether working together feels right.
